The Startup Journey of Interiorwalaa

This Blog is for those who wanted to know reason behind starting Interiorwalaa.

News: Affordable End to End Interiors service provider- Interiorwalaa eyeing to expand its services to all the Metros and some fast growing second tier cities by 2018.

Before starting Interiorwalaa, we started entrepreneurial journey as a team in 2012 and burnt pockets and hands together , we tried establishing online dedicated shopping place for jeans. But due to lack of proper planning , technology and resource crunch it  was never live.      

We did our homework and research before jumping off the cliff, we met fifty plus clients who had recently got their interiors done, tried to understand the process from finding lead of Interior service provider to final delivery of the project. We had set of questions framed and all together put the statistics says 20% of customers prefer to engage companies who have done works in their network , i.e referral firms. Another 20% said they engaged carpenters , electricians painters themselves and got their interior done. And the remaining 30% crowd got wood work , painting and electrical job done from firms suggested by builders or brokers who helped them to buy flats.   

And remaining 40% of respondents used Internet to select right interior vendor. Initially they would select 10-12 vendors and freeze 2-3 for final vendor selection. The screening criteria were different from client to clients but all of them visited vendor's recently completed projects. Price also played important role, irrespective of other factors like quality, timeline, professionalism etc. 

And when it comes post evaluation of expectations and satisfactions we found 60% of the customers were not satisfied, the reasons being vendors showing and apple and delivering organge, untimely delivery, poor quality materials, unskilled carpenters with less or no knowledge of interiors design, cost over run etc.  

On being asked what are reasons for not opting or buying online, the below were some answers

- Online buying never gives touch and feel of the products,We want to touch the items , feel it, online pictures and reviews on portals are not sufficient. 
- Most of the time Online Items which are being sold are either made up MDF  or Particle Boards, and we prefer ply over MDFs.
- Customization is not much possible on Online buying. 
- Selection of handles for modular kitchens and wardrobes of our choice was hardly possible online. 
- Most customers prefers to get the work done at site,  they wanted to keep an eye on quality of wood and other items used for the projects. 

So, we had planed to start Interiorwalaa to bridge all these gaps and bring professionalism and transparency. 

Also to have cost and competitive advantage for making interiors affordable we have signed strategic deals with factories that supply raw materials required directly to our sites from their warehouses. ,We have in housed 80+ carpenters, plumbers, electricians , POP, Painters. 

We Say Apple and Deliver Apple, for this we charge a bare minimum consulting fees and our designers and project managers make sure we don't deviate away from agreed scope of delivery, Thus as a process of consultation our high skilled, experienced interior designers personally visit the sites and learn clients needs and analyse requirements also educate them on design and materials so that together we can achieve the goals.

Note: We have closely held associates with factory setup who deliver specific designs only for Interiorwalaa, they are renowned Modular Manufacturers who have been serving industries since last 25 years.
